USI Insurance Services is hiring an Employee Benefits Consulting Actuary for our team in Atlanta, Georgia!

Remote candidates must reside in one of the following states: North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

General Description: Client-facing position that acts as an engaged participant in the sales process. Responsible for independently analyzing information to create and assist with delivery of financial solutions for prospective clients and clients with complex benefit programs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Act as a resource for sales executives. Develop strategic plans and solutions for prospects and larger clients.
  2. Work closely with service team members to ensure clients’ strategic objectives are clearly articulated. Deliver proactive solutions.
  3. Work with prospects and larger clients to provide expert underwriting review and technical insight. Provide guidance on financial concepts, financial solutions, and other analytical materials.
  4. Understand and expertly explain external market influences and internal experience trends driving benefit costs to clients.
  5. Participate in finalist sales presentations for prospective clients. Lead company financial analysis and discussions.
  6. Use and present data analytics tools, including demonstrations, as needed.
  7. May analyze and prepare financial reporting packages for larger clients. Reporting packages may include:
    1. Claims utilization, trend, and lag analyses
    2. Rate and Contribution analysis and modeling
    3. Market analysis
    4. Financial funding analysis
    5. Renewal rate and funding projections and modeling
    6. Technical claims review with utilization metrics, gaps in care and cost modeling
    7. Benchmarking
    8. IBNR and lag analyses
  8. Utilize analytical tools to develop alternative funding and network strategies, plan design modeling, and cost reduction opportunities.
  9. Perform technical review of group insurance contracts and financial arrangements.
  10. Provide leadership responsibilities as identified by Team Lead. Includes independent development of tools and processes and research and development of future best practices.
  11. Assist with development of team standards and processes.
  12. Assist with training and mentorship of junior team members.
  13. Maintain analytical skill set and knowledge to act as a resource for the team.
  14. Participate in the peer review process as a participant and reviewer. Mentor all level analysts via their reviewed work.
  15. Develop and maintain excellent carrier relationships.
  16. Keep current on industry and new product information, legislation, technology, and trends.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. 10 years + experience in employee benefits or related field.
  2. High School Graduate. College degree preferred.
  3. Must hold or be willing to obtain a state Life & Disability insurance license.
  4. Broad knowledge of insurance industry.
  5. Ability to negotiate with strong mathematical skills.
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.
  7. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  8. Ability to manage and negotiate multiple priorities and deadlines.
  9. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  10. Strong functional knowledge of Adobe and Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word.
  11. Advanced problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  12. Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
