Position Goal:
To oversee the day-to-day operations of the Physical Therapy Department in the most efficient manner as possible, ensuring the department meets the needs of the patients as well as the physicians.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for reviewing PT workflow and processes to ensure billing and documentation requirements are met on a daily basis, i.e. PT orders, procedure documentation, signed forms, etc.
  2. Provides oversight for development, direction, and coordination of all Physical Therapy staff.
  3. Responsible for updating PT policies and procedures.
  4. Responsible for developing and maintaining departmental budgets, reporting on variances in budget system monthly, and overall oversight of budget.
  5. Responsible for maintaining all PT regulatory guidelines and standards.
  6. Manages all aspects of PT inventory management, including but not limited to: supply ordering, receiving, stocking, payment of supplier invoices, reviewing and facilitating all requests for new product, reporting product abnormalities, ensuring staff are appropriately trained and scheduled to meet all patient needs.
  7. Assists staff and physicians in problem-solving regarding the type of brace and fitting that best suits the patient and their specific needs.
  8. Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with patients, physicians, staff, and corporate staff.
  9. Ensures PT staff are providing direct patient care activities as assigned.
  10. Responsible to ensure that quality patient care is being provided by all therapists.
  11. Ensures that all physicians' needs are being met regarding rehabilitative services.
  12. Responsible to ensure that the rehab department is Medicare compliant and that billing is appropriate.
  13. Plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy (PT) treatments for patients suffering from injuries or disease to restore function, prevent disability, and relieve pain.
  14. Consults with physicians and/or other departments about the impact of PT factors on patient health status.
  15. Documents findings, treatments, and other patient information for medical records as necessary. Bills patients according to proper procedures.
  16. Educates patients/families on appropriate care and use of various therapies and/or exercises.
  17. Performs staff meetings at a frequency desired but no less than quarterly.
  18. Serves as an information and education resource for patients, families, and other members of the therapy staff.
  19. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  20. Performs related work as required.
  21. Recommends solutions to patient care problems.
  22. Maintains patient confidentiality.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience: Minimum 2 years experience as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant required. Two (2) years supervisory experience in a health care setting preferred.

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy or Physical Therapy Assistant.

Special Qualification: Must have current state License in PT or PTA. Must maintain BLS certification. Must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Must demonstrate good judgment in performance with daily duties and excellent communication skills both oral and written.
