Mechanical Engineering Technician II

Position                       : Mechanical Engineering Technician II

Location                     : San Diego, CA

Duration                     : 3 Months Contract

Total Hours/week      : 40.00

1st  shift

Description:

The Engineering Technician will perform the following duties:

·         Prepares reports and summaries, including quantitative analysis

·         Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Products engineering document, reports, and drawings (flow charts, block diagrams and schematics)

·         Help scope equipment for use and complete qualifications

·         Assist Engineers as they create, modify, and test products and processes

·         Operate and maintain test equipment

·         Use typical hand tools to build and set-up equipment using drawings and other documentation

·         Use complex measurement equipment to collect and record data

·         Execution of designed test protocol and conduct testing

·         Works with team to organize lab functions & test equipment

·         Notifies manager upon recognition of factors that may affect project

·         Effective documentation and communication of test results

·         Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

·         High School Diploma / GED

·         A combination of equivalent education and experience or a minimum of training beyond high school or secondary school in a technical discipline with more than 2 years relevant experience or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

·         Experience using test equipment such as an Instron for tensile and compression testing

·         Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity of electro-mechanical devices

·         Proficiency with personal computers

·         Experience using MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint

·         Ability to understand and perform designed test procedures

·         Good organizational skills

·         Good communication skills

·         Ability to follow directions and effectively execute written and verbal instructions

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

·         BA or BS

·         Ability to train lower level technicians and operators

·         Experience working in cross-functional teams
