The International Leadership Charter Middle School will launch with the same mission as our high school and a new vision. International Leadership Charter High School is a high-performing, college-preparatory, community-grown public charter school. Our mission is to change lives and transform communities, one scholar at a time.
The ELA Teacher is the lead reading and writing teacher for seventh grade. The teacher facilitates students' development and acquisition of reading comprehension, persuasive and expository writing, creative writing, grammar and vocabulary skills. The ELA Teacher develops a deep conceptual understanding of English Language Arts concepts that are aligned with New York State Next Generation Learning Standards and facilitates the successful implementation of a rigorous curriculum to ensure that all students master the standard and meet individualized academic goals. The ELA Teacher is supervised by the Instructional Leader and works with the school's leadership to implement school policies and procedures as well as communicates with students, parents or caregivers regarding student progress. Duties and Expectations
Prepare bi-weekly lesson plans and deliver an academically rigorous course of study.
Communicate high academic and behavioral expectations to ensure high levels of student engagement.
Create a classroom environment conducive to optimal teaching and learning.
Actively participate in professional development activities and use evaluative feedback as a tool for growth.
Collect, analyze and report student performance data.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, be dependable, have integrity and be committed to the charter school's vision.
Requirements
Master's Degree or currently in a Master's program with certification pending. NYS Certification preferred: Grades 1-6 or 7-12
1-3 years of teaching experience preferred.
Willing to work in a high-paced environment that requires a high degree of individual initiative, accountability and social emotional intelligence.
Benefits
Compensation is commensurate with the level of experience and pending certification. It includes a competitive base salary as well as health, dental, vision and 401(k). Six weeks paid vacation is offered to teaching faculty with 10 school holidays during the winter break. Salary range: $65,000 - $75,000.
