IMSolutions seeks a Communications Specialist to fill exciting opportunities supporting the federal government.

This position is located in Washington, DC, with the possibility of being remote/hybrid.

As the Communications Specialist – Federal Contracting , you will receive and address vendor inquiries during steady state and disaster-response operations. You will develop a leadership engagement strategy to align leadership with effective strategic and business planning, focusing on a total program management approach to acquisitions.

These functions include:

  • Receive and address vendor inquiries during steady state and disaster-response operations. Inquiries are received via telephone calls and emails. Track disaster vs. non-disaster-related call volume, emails, and congressional inquiries. Input all data related to the investigation into the identified tracking tool.
  • Educate local vendors through procurement education seminars to foster successful business participation during non-disaster and disaster efforts.
  • Assist in coordinating the business outreach events with appropriate DHS stakeholders.
  • When supporting these events, present clearly and concisely how to do business and contract with the agency.
  • Assist with implementing policy, tools, training, and programs to ensure regulation compliance.
  • Support stakeholder engagement to identify new training topics and provide recommendations on acquisition best practices and lessons learned to improve acquisition processes within DHS.
  • Support awareness of acquisition policy and procedures by maintaining accuracy and availability of content on available collaboration platforms, such as SharePoint sites.
  • Coordinate, collaborate, and cooperate with the Contracting Officer Representative, DHS program officials, and contractors as directed to identify required information and materials (briefings, reports, job aids, SOPs, memos, etc.) transition to ensure initiatives continue seamlessly.
  • Facilitate, support, and conduct knowledge transition activities as directed by the COR/program officials and in cooperation with existing/incoming contractors to transition out the program and technical support services, including identifying, developing, and providing supporting documentation.
  • Develop a Leadership engagement strategy to align leadership with effective strategic and business planning, focusing on a total program management approach to acquisitions.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of study (communications, business, etc.) with at least eight (8) years of experience (or Master’s degree with at least six (6) years of experience) within the acquisition field required.
  • Experience and subject matter expertise in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) regulations and policies, including Homeland Security Acquisition Regulation (HSAR) and Homeland Security Acquisition Manual (HSAM), with the ability to evaluate all official contract file documentation to determine the incorporation of meeting the FAR standard and agency standards towards effecting “sound business judgment.”
  • Ability to train or convey technical jargon to non-technical individuals.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Foreign National with a work permit and residing in the U.S. for three (3) or more years.
  • Ability to pass a Federal Public Trust Clearance, which must be adjudicated favorably for you to begin working. This requires fingerprinting and reporting on your previous employment, residence, education, and financial and legal background. Candidates may be disqualified for federal or state convictions of crimes; military court-martials, delinquent federal debt including taxes and student loans, current use of illegal drugs, or lying on their application.

Base compensation range and benefits:

$75,000 to $110,000 - Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location.
