Sr. Director, Design, Small Business Bank
We’re seeking a Sr. Director of Design to define and deliver industry-leading banking experiences, helping small business owners manage their money and optimize their cash flow effortlessly so they can spend more time focusing on growing their business.
You will lead established design teams across Acquisition, Onboarding, Servicing and Transformation agendas. The teams you lead will be helping small business owners and their employees find the right banking solutions, manage their payments, improve their cash flow, and receive exceptional service in banking across channels. You will collaborate with talented teams across a range of disciplines to transform the technology, data and platforms that power small business experiences.
As a strategic leader, you will operate at the intersection of customer experience, technology and business strategy to uncover and co-create compelling, data-driven experiences in partnership with product and technology teams. You will lead your team through developing experience insights, setting strategy, and rigorously refining UX/UI and content design to deliver on Small Business Bank objectives with world-class design quality. And you'll do it all in a collaborative environment that encourages you to build relationships, take on new responsibility, and promotes continuous learning. As part of a broader design leadership team focused on small business, you will play a key role in highlighting cross-lob intersection points and multi-product opportunities for bank and card.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the small business banking design team and multidisciplinary program teams deliver high performing omnichannel experiences to market (across web, mobile, voice, in person and more)
- Partner with business, technology, marketing, and analytics leaders and executives to shape product strategy with market intelligence, customer insights, and performance analytics.
- Shape and evolve operating models including program planning, resourcing and effective collaboration across product, design, marketing, analysis and technology teams.
- Influence senior executives and manage high-level internal and external stakeholder and partner relationships, effectively working with partners and teams across various teams & geographies
- Forge relationships with lines of business outside of the small business bank to identify dependencies, build upon existing patterns and platforms and identify opportunities for joint experiences.
- Develop and guide industry leading design talent, evaluating and coaching people and performance against a high bar.
- Advocate for user centricity and communicate concrete experience value and results across the organization.
Our ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills:
- Deep experience leading product design teams operating across UX and UI, strategy, content, and research from strategy through delivery to market and in-market optimization
- Deep experience partnering with product managers, engineers, marketing, and analytics leaders across multiple business lines to shape strategy, OKRs, roadmaps, and operating models.
- Deep experience interfacing with executive leadership (VP through C suite) to solve problems, influence key decisions, and drive results across strategy, design, roadmaps and investments
- Proficiency with designing and launching business to business (“B to B”)and business to consumer (“B to C”) products, services and experiences to market
- Proficiency with web and mobile technologies and platforms–navigating technology considerations and constraints to drive sound product and experience decisions
- Proficiency in business case development in whitespace thinking–grounding product and experience decisions to business value
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and relationship building across complex organizations
- Exceptional people management and development skills
- Exceptional workshop and meeting facilitation skills
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or military experience
- At least 12 years professional experience in design
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years experience in a role leading teams across UX, UI, strategy, content, and research
- 5+ years experience in business to business or fintech
