Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Fund Accountant to join their team. The Fund Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for their private credit and equity investment funds. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly accounting and reporting packages, including fund-level net asset values and investor capital statements for the firm’s private credit and equity investment funds.
  2. Process bank transactions, including monitoring and reconciliation of monthly loan collections, fund distributions, and fund expenses, while maintaining such activity in the general ledger.
  3. Provide financial information and reporting to internal management, external counterparties, and investors.
  4. Coordinate investor transactions, including subscriptions and redemptions, with fund administrators.
  5. Monitor expense budgets and accruals to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  6. Coordinate with external auditors on agreed-upon procedures work and annual audits/financial statement preparation.
  7. Collaborate on projects to improve overall efficiencies and accounting procedures.
  8. Interact with senior management, corporate accounting, operations, analysts, and legal teams.
  9. Assist in Corporate Accounting filing obligations as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required. CPA or CPA-eligible with intention to obtain certification preferred.
  2. 4+ years of fund accounting or audit experience, with at least 2 years at a Big 4 or Top Tier Public Accounting firm.
  3. Knowledge of U.S generally accepted accounting principles and procedures for private investment funds, including experience with fund-level accounting and reporting.
  4. Working knowledge of investment and fund performance metrics, distributions, and capital calls calculations (if exposed to private equity).
  5. Possess strong analytical skills required in reviewing, researching, and resolving issues surrounding accounting and financial matters.
  6. Exposure to complex fund structures, waterfall calculations, performance calculations (IRRs), distributions, and capital calls calculations is a plus.
  7. Experience with annual external reporting (audited financial statements).
  8. Strategic thinker with the ability to master both the details and the big picture.
  9. Ability to operate independently and handle many projects at once without losing track of the details.
