Position Summary
Kimberly-Clark’s global corporate strategy team has played a key role in solving the company’s largest and most pressing strategic issues for the past 10+ years. The group’s purpose is to lead development and implementation of enterprise-wide strategy while serving as a critical talent pipeline for the company.
The Senior Director, Corporate Strategy will be a key member of the strategy leadership team, reporting to the Chief Business & Transformation Officer. This leader’s primary responsibility will be to develop and execute strategic enterprise initiatives that drive Kimberly-Clark’s growth, profitability, and long-term success. This individual will lead efforts to facilitate and coordinate our business strategy processes alongside our business leaders, to optimize and expand our existing business with a focus on growth.
Role & Responsibilities
More specifically, the Senior Director, Corporate Strategy will:
Corporate Strategy:
- Work closely with the Chief Business and Transformation Officer, CEO, and senior business leaders in leading the development of the corporate strategy. Additionally, this leader will work with segment and functional leaders to create strategies that drive shareholder value with clear plans for implementation
- Guide end-to-end strategy development and make adjustments to existing strategies based upon new learning and changes in the competitive environment
- Evaluate the portfolio and make recommendations on changes to the focus and levels of investment/resource allocation
- Contribute to business growth by identifying and prioritizing potential business opportunities and evaluating potential investments, strategic partnerships, and/or M&A activities
- Orchestrate and drive the deployment of Kimberly-Clark Powering Care Strategy and transformation efforts. Identify and personally lead high-impact enterprise-oriented change
- Design, orchestrate and lead key executive leadership sessions owned by the Chief Business and Transformation Officer creating impact and connectivity with the enterprise strategies, critical transformation initiatives, and other priorities.
Segment and Functional Strategies and Cross-Company Interactions:
- Collaborate with segment leadership to ensure their strategies are aligned with the overall corporate strategy
- Test insights against Kimberly-Clark’s segments strategies and adjust strategies as appropriate
- Embed long-term strategic thinking into ongoing business processes within Kimberly-Clark.
Industry and Competitive Landscape Trend Monitoring:
- Monitor, track, interpret, and share external and competitive trends
- Stay abreast of industry, competitive, and innovation trends that can impact Kimberly-Clark
- Analyze competitive intelligence from cross-functional, multinational sources across the company and translate it to meaningful implications and actions
- Coordinate Kimberly-Clark’s Business and Competitive Risk Management efforts
Personal Impact and Communications:
- Add personal insight, galvanize discussion and debate across the organization on key strategic issues, generating ideas and creative frameworks, and use a combination of facts, judgment, and personal impact to build credibility and influence outcomes.
- Work jointly with the Chief Business and Transformation Officer and others in making presentations to senior management, the Board of Directors, and key external constituencies on strategic matters pertaining to corporate strategy.
Professional Skills & Qualifications
- 15+ years’ experience in strategy and/or extensive leadership experience in strategic operating roles or corporate functions
- Experience in management consulting firms combined with CPG industry experience in strategy development, finance, marketing, or other roles with strategic content
- Effective communicator able to build credibility and be a trusted voice with leadership and key stakeholders on market intelligence, cutting-edge innovation, competition, and initiatives impacting the CPG industry
- Demonstrated ability developing and executing strategic initiatives that result in enterprise-wide transformational change and value creation
- Proven experience working in a fast-paced setting; enthusiastic about the potential strategic options facing Kimberly-Clark; well-grounded and pragmatic
- Experience working in the context of a large, complex, global organization where working across boundaries and leading through influence are keys to success. Negotiates “wins” across functional and sector boundaries
- Collaborative leader with the ability to inspire, motivate, and leverage the skillsets of a global strategy team
- Motivated and fueled from within to be a strong contributor to the team today and beyond
- Bachelor's Degree and MBA from a first-tier business school preferred
