The Department of Counseling & Psychological Services is home to 7 graduate programs including 3 Ph.D. programs, 3 Master's programs, and 1 Ed.S. program. The department has 5 staff members and 25 faculty members collaborating to support over 200 graduate students.

The Department of Counseling & Psychological Services in the College of Education & Human Development is seeking to hire an energetic and self-motivated Administrative Specialist .

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

The Administrative Specialist Administrative is responsible for student-related academic needs, managing departmental social media accounts and web content, assisting the Administrative Specialist Managerial, and serving as a liaison between program coordinators and departmental staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Social Media and Web Content

  • Maintains and updates department website content and disseminates department-related information via multiple social media platforms. Ensures all program information on the website is accurate and up-to-date.

Department Events

  • Coordinates with Department Chair, program coordinators, and Administrative Specialist Managerial on planning for events in the department including the annual Community Advisory Board meetings, accreditation site visits, and program orientations.

Registration

  • Receives and processes class authorization requests for CPS and Non-CPS students.

Faculty Collaboration

  • Works closely with department faculty on a variety of projects including issues related to academics, accreditation, and program development.

Practicum and Internship

  • Works with Program Coordinators on updating the Practicum and Internship Handbook for each program, managing departmental contracts with internship sites, ensuring compliance of approved sites, and keeping up-to-date information both internally and on the department website. Coordinates and assists master's level practicum/internship orientations.

Exams

  • Assists with scheduling and notifying students of comprehensive exam dates, and works with Program Coordinators on the administration of the exam. Coordinates the National Counselor Examination (NCE) with the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).

Text Books

  • Solicits input from faculty, part-time instructors, and graduate teaching assistants each semester for their preferred course textbook(s). Enters all textbook information into the GSU Textbook Adoption system for students.

Student Organizations

  • Maintains an updated list of student organizations and contacts for students in leadership positions within those organizations.

Rooms

  • Responsible for scheduling rooms for departmental classes and events.

Parking Requests

  • Responsible for processing all parking requests related to special events and guest lecturers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of administrative experience; or a high school or GED and six years of administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
