Position Summary The Business/Administrative Associate position is responsible for supporting the outreach strategy to drive community presence in target areas for the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System under the direction of Community Relations and Health Equity leadership. Identifies and establishes relationships with key community leaders and organizations. Represents the health system at various events and on councils within the community. Provides analysis of community assessment and other statistical data sources to identify key health disparities and needs in the African-American and Hispanic community within the health enterprise PSA. Provides consultation with various units and clinical leaders to align programs and providers with community needs to deliver health education, outreach, and medical services to address health disparities. Establishes partnerships with external partners to further the reach of UI Health in it's primary service area.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supporting and participating in community health initiatives and programs, events, outreach, and health education. Attend and staff on-site health events in the community
  • Manage department event schedule and logistics
  • Recruit clinical volunteers and speakers from across the clinical enterprise
  • Process event registration and sponsorship forms, track attendance and maintain database. Compile event reports for end of year reporting
  • Create and maintain community outreach annual plan in collaboration with Director
  • Manage financial and administrative aspects of department, i.e. reimbursements, purchase orders, supply orders
  • Order and maintain inventory of print materials, equipment, and supplies for events
  • Track and write reports for events and budget submissions
  • Assist with health education program development and community impact.
  • Draft and distribute community communications, collaborate with marketing, and promote UI Health.
  • Draft Social Media announcements, collaborate with Marketing
  • Organize and maintain event contacts, expenses, and event calendars
  • Recommend opportunities for awareness and visibility of UI Health service lines
  • Maintain and strengthen relationship with community organizations
  • Participate in special projects as assigned
  • Act as an ambassador of UI Health in the community and with other healthcare organizations, patients, and stakeholders
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications
    1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
    2. Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.
      (NOTE: A Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)
    3. Current/Valid Driver's License and access to vehicle required.

    This position requires Illinois residency within 180 days of thehire date.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Preferred candidates will have at least three years of experience in a community, school/university, and/or health care setting including extensive patient or student contact.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse staff and communities.
    • Bilingual Spanish (write/read/speak) preferred
