Title: Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Assistant Team Lead
Reports To: Shift Supervisor
What is the overall objective/purpose of this position?
Assists with directing and monitoring employees assigned to the CNC Department. Answers questions, assists with training new employees. Ensures machine operators are working efficiently; reassigns operators to various machines to meet the production requirements for the shift. Responsible for set-ups and change overs of machines in area. Troubleshoots issues that may come up with the CNC machines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensures that team is completing the correct customer orders in a safe manner and correctly according to the production schedule.
• Positively motivate and drive employees within their work group(s) to achieve company goals
• Assists in the training of new Assembly Operators
• Assists and answers questions from co-workers regarding the job at hand and or required tasks
• Explains and demonstrates machine operation and inspection procedures to new workers
• Operates CNC machines when short-staffed and during break periods
• Sets up, adjusts, or oversees set up of machines and equipment used to trim parts, according to blueprint specifications.
• Sets machine with correct cutting tools
• Assists and answers questions from team for completing projects
• Follows work instructions; ensures machine operators are following work instructions for completing the required job
• Loads and unloads material from machine if operators need assistance
• Inspects products for defects and conformance to customer specifications throughout entire production runs
• Communicates with management to ensure proper setup and operation of machines
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and learns very basic programming to troubleshoot issues occurring with the CNC machines
• Keeps work area neat and organized
• Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures
• Comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations
• Other duties may be assigned as necessary
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
*Must have demonstrated work history and ability to operate, troubleshoot, and conduct mold changeovers on a CNC machine. Additionally, we need a strong people leader and motivator.*
• Leads by example and motivates people to create a challenging, empowering, and collaborative working environment
• Basic skills in reading, writing and arithmetic are required
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions
• Strong manual dexterity
• Strong computer skills
• Basic knowledge of machinery
Education and Experience:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
Previous experience in a manufacturing facility required
Physical Demands:
This position will require the employee to be able to lift moderate amounts of weight throughout their workday, up to 30 lbs.
This position requires the employee to spend most of their time on their feet with some required amount of walking.
Work Environment:
The work setting of this manufacturing facility provides adequate lighting, noise levels will be moving between moderate to high noise levels. Required Personal Protection Equipment always includes Safety Glasses and may require Hearing Protection for any person in specific production areas (ex. Near CNC/Grinding/Routing or Bandsaw equipment). Additional PPE may be required, i.e., gloves, face masks, face shields, dependent on the specific job being performed and company safety rules and regulations. Because of the nature of this business, the temperature in the production facility can be very hot during the hotter times of the year. Typically, the temperature is more comfortable during the more moderate temperature times of the year. Employees are strongly encouraged to have water at their work area to stay hydrated during their work shift.
