Job Description:
Maryland Environmental Service (MES) has an opening for an Agency Grants Specialist II within our Technical and Environmental Services Group supporting Maryland Department of Emergency Management (MDEM) in Hanover, MD. This position will support the Mission Support Directorate at MDEM. Duties will include managing the fiscal and programmatic reporting for various grant programs including managing change requests to the grant budgets. This position may include partnering with the other grant administrators to pull financial figures to embed into reports and/or adjust and understand impacts to proposed changes in grant budgets.
Estimated Pay Range:
$53,131 - $68,000

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum education requirements include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in English, communications, accounting, project management, business administration, economics, finance or public administration or other applicable field plus three years of applicable experience, one year of which must have included responsibility providing leadership or management to other professional staff. An advanced education degree may be substituted for up to two years of required experience.
Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.
The preferred candidate would have the following knowledge and skills:
  • Proficient understanding of the grant management cycle to include finances
  • and pre- and post-award grant management;
  • Ability to navigate various proposal application processes & electronic
  • Proposal systems;
  • Ability to develop grant applications, create budget justifications and
  • complete other various components of grant applications;
  • Proficient in the use of file sharing platforms, such as Google Drive;
  • Ability to maintain multiple grant calendars with submission requirements,
  • reporting requirements, and internal deadlines;
  • Proficient use of spreadsheet applications and document generating
  • applications (ex: Microsoft Office, Google Suite);
  • Possess the ability to collaborate with stakeholders, peers, supervisors, and all other persons with a professional demeanor;
  • Proficient in program and project management.
