The Director of Engineering will lead and manage the engineering department for a leading aerospace fastener manufacturing company. This role requires a strategic leader who can drive engineering excellence, foster innovation, and ensure the highest standards of product quality and compliance with industry regulations. The Director of Engineering will work closely with cross-functional teams to oversee project execution, streamline operations, and support the company's mission to provide superior aerospace fasteners. This position has been identified as a key position with specific responsibilities, input, support, and alignment with Click Bond’s Quality & Environmental Management System (QEMS). The QEMS is the overall framework for the company’s policies and operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, including engineers, project managers, and support staff.
  • Define clear goals and performance metrics for the engineering team.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative engineering culture within the department.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives and market demands.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, methodologies, and technologies.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and schedule targets.
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of new aerospace fastener products.
  • Ensure engineering designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the integration of new technologies and innovations into product development processes.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, and other departments to ensure smooth product development and production.
  • Serve as the engineering point of contact for customer inquiries, technical support, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure engineering practices adhere to aerospace industry standards, including AS9100 and other relevant certifications.
  • Implement and monitor quality control measures to maintain high product standards.
  • Address and resolve engineering-related issues and non-conformities.
  • Develop and manage the engineering department’s budget, including staffing, equipment, and project expenditures.
  • Allocate resources efficiently and effectively to meet project and departmental goals.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in aerospace fastener manufacturing.
  • Promote and drive innovation within the engineering team to enhance product performance and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on engineering activities, project status, and key performance indicators to senior management.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate Click Bond policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of aerospace fastener technologies, design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with aerospace industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., AS9100).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a track record of successful project management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to drive innovation and manage change in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to write and read English.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or related field). A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in an engineering leadership role within the aerospace or manufacturing industry.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, evaluation, and results of the department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Work primarily performed in a standard office environment. If in manufacturing areas, may be exposed to noise, smells, heat, dust, etc. Work requires the observance of fire regulations and safe work practices.
