As an Insurance Services Manager, you will oversee insurance operations, lead the Insurance Services team and ensure efficient and effective delivery of insurance services to members. You will foster carrier relationships and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance, and the overall effectiveness and profitability of OCCU’s insurance program.

Leadership:

  • Develop goals for each team member which align with organizational goals.
  • Oversee performance management with the guidance and assistance of Human Resources if it moves into disciplinary action.
  • Ensure all assigned team members have a development plan in place.
  • Conduct regular feedback and development meetings with all assigned team members.
  • Maintain a cohesive, highly trained, and motivated team who effectively meet daily department demand and long-term organizational goals.
  • Provide consistent communication to their teams to ensure they understand the objectives and organizational goals and how each contributes to these.
  • Lead team members through change management effectively when required.
  • Establish and maintain commitments and professional business relationships with team members, members, vendors, the community, professional organizations, and credit union trade organizations.
  • Work collaboratively with other areas with a focus on positive outcomes and meeting goals.
  • Play a positive role in the development and growth of assigned team members through excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong delegation skills assuring a highly effective, cross-trained staff.
  • Consistently use the Advantage Framework, including cascading communications and supporting and committing the determined objectives, initiatives, and strategies.

Role Specific:

  • Monitor member feedback regarding product and/or service level issues and make recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Drive an accelerated sales culture by ensuring accountability for results through execution of the sales and service management process and effective coaching practices.
  • Manage a standardized renewal process including requests from carriers and proposals delivered to members and policyholders.
  • Proactively seek and embrace new opportunities and changes involving new technologies, efficiencies, products, services, and procedures – resulting in optimum production.
  • Stay informed of market trends. Make recommendations for new or revised products and service areas, which may include products, expanded service areas and new service delivery methods.

To thrive in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant and demonstrated experience in the insurance industry.
  • A minimum of two years of experience leading a team with five or more direct reports.
  • A Property and Casualty License from the state of Oregon is required and must be maintained as well as in any other states where a license is required and OCCU does business, now or in the future.
  • Bachelor’s degree required and/or proven track record of driving measurable business outcomes.

An equivalent combination of experience and education that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position will be considered in lieu of the outlined requirements.
