Sunoco, L.P., the nation's largest fuel distribution company, is looking for an entry-level Accountant to join our Operational Accounting team in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate will apply their knowledge in a high-energy, fast-paced, and innovative environment.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Partner with suppliers, terminal locations or customers to solve inventory, sales, billing or electronic payment issues
  • Perform trend analysis on inventory and sales volumes, and P&L and balance sheet accounts
  • Record daily and monthly journal entries to ensure accuracy of financial information
  • Prepare account reconciliations and explain reconciling items
  • Proactively identify process improvement or automation opportunities
  • Creatively use Excel techniques to enhance analysis
  • Willingness to learn to build financial data models using tools such as Excel, Power BI, Alteryx
  • Document processes using MS Visio
  • Assist with quarterly and annual audit process by preparing support and walk-through of process
  • Develop strong business relationships with internal and external partners

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 0-3 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in use of Excel, and interest in further expanding Excel skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime during peak periods if needed
  • Highest standards of ethical behavior when carrying out job responsibilities
  • Highly motivated and team-oriented
  • Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • SAP, Salesforce, Alteryx, or PowerBI knowledge is a plus

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job related experience

Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
1. Usually, normal office working conditions.
2. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
3. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
4. Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
