The Student Health Care Center at the University of Florida within the Department of Community Health and Family Medicine (CHFM) is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our team. This position provides psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, medication evaluations, treatments, follow-up care, and crisis intervention/emergency services for University of Florida (UF) students.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and medication evaluations for students with various mental health concerns.
  • Offer treatment, follow-up care, and crisis intervention/emergency services for students in need.
  • Provide psychiatric consultation services to Counseling and Wellness Center therapy staff and other UF community members.

Documentation:

  • Maintain clinical records in accordance with established charting guidelines.

Emergency Duties:

  • Provides regular backup and after-hours psychiatric emergency/urgent duties as part of 24-hour crisis intervention on-call services.

Typical Schedule: Monday-Sunday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, 40 hours a week. Hours and days can vary according to the SHP’s needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • APRN: Master’s degree in nursing or a health-related area and licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Florida.
  • PA: Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program and licensed as a Physician Assistant in Florida.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification for APRNs.
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health PA certification for PAs.
  • Two years of appropriate experience.
  • Experience in dealing with college-age populations and understanding diverse social/cultural contexts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
