Summary/Objective
Underwrites and manages a territory for Commercial Lines BOP new business, renewals, endorsements, and inspections while applying excellent risk-based underwriting philosophy and standards. Consistently looking for ways to improve the overall product by identifying gaps in coverages and processes while driving the initiatives to completion. These responsibilities must be accomplished while maintaining quality, productivity, and time service standards.
Essential Functions
  • Review and select Commercial Lines risks that adhere to underwriting guidelines.
  • Exhibits strong understanding and consistent application of risks reviewed, accurately
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and prioritization of responsibilities to accomplish tasks efficiently.
  • Applying judgment and risk-based underwriting philosophy.
  • Works with supervisor and product managers to identify gaps in coverage and drive initiatives to improve the overall product.
  • Occasionally travel to visit assigned agents and look for ways to increase and improve business
  • Appropriately rate policies on new business, renewals, endorsements, and inspections for Commercial Lines products.
  • Review, document and take appropriate action on inspection reports and apply appropriate adjustments.
  • Remain current with program changes implemented by product managers and recommend policy changes to product managers.
  • Develops and strengthens agent relationships and communication.
  • Must be able to analyze and provide feedback when necessary regarding the quality of an agency's submissions.
  • Assist product managers with research and projects to improve and enhance product offerings.
  • Physical attendance is required at the worksite (Hybrid)
Travel
  • Up to 20% travel required.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and at least 3 years experience in commercial BOP underwriting.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • 5 to 7 years of P&C experience
  • At least 3 years of commercial underwriting experience handling Business Owner's Policy (BOP) or small commercial package business.
  • Strong technical underwriting knowledge and decision-making skills.
  • Has agency travel as part of their current responsibility with a proven record of developing and maintaining solid relationships with both internal and external business partners.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience inclusive of one of the following Insurance designations (CIC, CPCU, AU)
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication skills
