Key job responsibilities
Solutions Architect
Our commercial sales associate solutions architects are passionate technologists with technical breadth and depth coupled with strong interpersonal skills. They are passionate about helping customers build infrastructures and applications at scale. In this role, you will partner across AWS teams to help customers craft highly scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures that address customer business problems. As a trusted customer advocate, you will help organizations understand best practices around cloud-based solutions, and learn how to migrate existing workloads to the cloud. You will have the opportunity to help customers use AWS within their organizations ranging from new start-ups to large enterprise customers.
Customer Solutions Associate
Our Customer Solutions team is tasked primarily with 1) align cloud transformational programs (technical, operational, organizational, and educational) that span traditional IT teams and business units, to accelerate our customers’ journey to the cloud; 2) asses risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide critical issue management, balance trade-offs, and encourage risk-taking to maximize business value and 3) evangelize on behalf of AWS and influence customers at an executive level to allocate appropriate resources to achieve goals.
Professional Services Consultant
In this role, you must possess an affinity for the new and unknown. We are always experimenting with innovative technologies including cloud computing, machine learning, and internet of things; and enjoy working with customers of all shapes and sizes. You will have a passion for educating, training, designing, and building solutions for a diverse and challenging set of customers ranging from small businesses to large enterprises. This path can include: DevOps Specialist, Cloud Infrastructure Architect, Application Developer, Data Lake & Analytics Specialist, Data Warehouse & MPP Specialist, and Data Engineer.
Associate Technical Trainer
The associate technical trainer role will allow you to be on the cutting edge of new technology as AWS continues to extend the platform with new features and new cloud services. You will have opportunities to work with AWS customers from different locations, representing the hottest startups and most established companies, as they learn how to leverage AWS technology to transform their industries. You will have the opportunity to deliver instructor-led courses with customers and record e-learning modules that will reach thousands of customers around the world. In addition, you will help identify areas of existing architectural collateral that need updating in order to ensure customers can create world-class solutions built on AWS.
Associate Technical Account Manager
You will partner with customers and several AWS teams to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud architectures that address customer business problems. As a trusted customer advocate, the technical account manager will help organizations understand best practices around cloud-based solutions, as well as diagnose and reproduce technical issues with our technology products. You will provide ongoing support and technical guidance to help plan and build solutions using best practices, and proactively help in keeping your customer’s AWS environments operationally healthy. You will have the opportunity to help shape and execute a strategy to build mindshare and broad use of AWS within organizations ranging from new start-ups to large enterprise customers. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value is critical to a technical account manager.
A day in the life
About Tech U
AWS Tech U is a 48-week residency program for a select group of new AWS employees. Residents have the opportunity to participate in project-based learning, creative real-world problem solving, and on-the-job training. Supported and supervised by AWS experts, this residency program offers these new AWS professionals time and space to develop technical expertise in AWS Cloud computing. They are also taught the soft skills required to launch a successful career. AWS Tech U graduates are prepared to serve as solutions architects, technical trainers, and professional services consultant roles within AWS.

About the Curriculum:
The AWS Tech U curriculum is designed to help participants develop technical expertise in cloud computing and prepare them for various roles within Amazon Web Services (AWS). Over approximately 24 weeks of technical and professional development, it is delivered through a mix of digital and classroom training, hands-on labs, and project work.
The project-based portion of the curriculum includes eight two-week sprints, with each sprint focused on a simulated customer scenario in the following domains:
• Highly Available Web Apps
• Media & Entertainment
• Migrations & Hybrid Apps
• Big Data
• Enterprise Applications
• IoT and AI
• Microservices
• Security, Governance & Compliance
There are two weeks of fundamentals training at the start of the program, a midpoint meetup, and a week at the end of the program for assessments and capstone projects.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or related fields (graduated less than 24 months prior to application)
• Experience with one of the following programming languages: Java, Python, Ruby, Node.js, C#, or C++.
• Experience with networking fundamentals, security, databases (Relational and/or NoSQL), operating systems (Unix, Linux, and/or Windows).
• Fluent proficiency in English.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience implementing a cloud-based technology solution in a school project or while working for a company.
• Experience with one or more of the following domains: systems administration (Linux/Window), network administration (DNS, IPsec, BGP, VPN, Load Balancing), or programming (Node.JS, Java, Ruby, C#, Python, or PHP).
