Job Title: Manual MachinistJob DescriptionPerform manual machining tasks (lathe, mill, saw, and drill) within a small precision machine shop. Quality is a top priority, utilizing a buddy system to inspect parts and ensuring all jobs are inspected prior to shipment. Our goal is to surpass customer expectations, and we rarely have parts rejected. Any issues are corrected before shipment. A positive, can-do attitude is essential, along with respect for others. Excellent attendance is required. The role includes assisting with estimates, sawing, machining, deburring, finishing, cleaning the shop, equipment maintenance, inspection, documenting time, packaging, pick-up/delivery, and other tasks to support customer and company needs. The candidate must operate saws, mills, and lathes to produce precision metal and plastic parts from customer drawings and CAD files, meeting company and customer standards for tolerances and cosmetics. Reading blueprints, understanding geometrical tolerancing, and utilizing measuring tools like micrometers, pitch mics, height gages, and depth gages are required. The machinist must efficiently estimate and meet set up and run times for jobs. The company specializes in quick turn shipments, requiring the machinist to operate in a fast-paced environment at times. Machining inside and outside unified and metric threads on the lathes is essential. The candidate must hold tolerances of +/-.005, often requiring +.001 / .000 on reamed holes, with most parts requiring a cosmetic finish. Grinding custom tools, co-designing machine fixtures, and drill jigs are necessary. CNC programming and CNC Mill operating experience are desirable but not required. CAD experience, especially with SolidWorks and SolidWorks Cam, is also desirable but not required. QuickBooks training may be provided. Occasionally, employees may be asked to pick up or deliver parts, compensated for their time and mileage.Hard SkillsManual MillManual LatheSawReading BlueprintsGeometrical TolerancingUsing Measuring ToolsMachining Precision PartsGrinding Custom ToolsCo-designing Machine FixturesDrill JigsSoft SkillsPositive AttitudeTeam PlayerExcellent AttendanceFlexibilityRespect for OthersJob TypeThis is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 4 Month(s).Work SiteThis is a fully on-site position in Portland, Oregon.Work EnvironmentSmall machine shop, working alongside one other person who runs the shop.About Aerotek:We know that finding work is hard, and finding meaningful work is harder.
