Overview:

The position will support our transactional and litigation practice groups in Milbank’s Los Angeles office. The Talent Development Manager will be a member of the Legal Personnel Department and report to the Director of Attorney Talent Development. The office is a fast-paced environment, and the Talent Development Manager should be comfortable interacting with employees at all levels under pressure while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient and should display a high level of professionalism.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Get to know the practice groups, practice group attorneys and administrative teams, deal and case flow and clients.
  2. Work closely with the Staffing Partners in coordinating the assignment of Associates to ongoing and new matters. Suggest assignments based on the workload of the practice groups and the developmental needs of the Associate.
  3. Work closely with Partners to ensure that appropriate developmental and training messages are given during Associate performance evaluations and participate in all performance evaluations to ensure consistency in delivery.
  4. Be familiar with the Associates' reviews, their matters, workloads and professional development goals.
  5. Counsel Associates on their career goals.
  6. Work closely with the Training Partners and the Professional Development team on the implementation of a multi-tiered transactional training program and liaise with the Professional Development team on and
  7. Help develop and facilitate ad hoc events to foster greater cohesion and communication within the office.
  8. Help manage onboarding of lateral and first year Associates and exit procedures for departing associates; conduct exit interviews.
  9. Other responsibilities as they are assigned from time to time.

PAY RANGE: $160,000-$180,000 DOE

Qualifications:

Qualifications / Skills

  1. Four to eight years of law firm experience; transactional experience strongly preferred.
  2. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, presentation, communication, leadership, time management and organizational skills.
  3. Must have high responsiveness to time sensitive issues.
  4. The position requires flexibility with respect to working hours.
  5. In-person attendance is expected.
  6. Establish credibility with the right mix of confidence, tact, and persistence. Build trust.

  1. JD required
