Mark Thomas is hiring a Senior Project Engineer (PE) in our Inland Empire office! The ideal senior roadway candidate will have design knowledge and experience with local roads, complete streets, drainage, etc. The role of a Senior Project Engineer is to take the lead and coordinate the necessary tasks required to complete multiple projects in conformity to scopes of work. This will include the adherence to scope, budgets, and schedules. The production elements of this position are reduced with a greater emphasis on the coordination of the project delivery elements. In addition, the supervisory responsibilities are increasingly more critical in this position with a higher degree of training and guiding the development of more junior staff. This role requires maintaining excellent communication with all levels of staff and all internal partners, departments, and sub-consultants who are part of the project team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads large project team to successful delivery of quality PS&E (plans, specifications, and estimate) packages
  • Completes small to medium size projects in accordance with engineering agreement to perform work for clients
  • Participates in project interviews
  • Acts in responsible charge of engineering deliverables of small to medium size projects
  • Prepares client reports on an independent basis
  • Ensures that project teams functions as a cohesive group, well trained in project production & execution
  • Provides significant input to project proposals & client presentations
  • Maintains close attention to project work scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Performs quality control measures and audits quality control measures for compliance
  • Communicates (verbal and written) technical and promotional material to staff, clients, and sub-consultants effectively
  • Independently prepares project plans, specifications, estimates, calculate quantities, performs calculations, and prepares reports, and exhibits
  • Provides QC support by following the appropriate procedures as outlined
  • Provides support during construction phase, exhibiting an understanding of construction methodologies, techniques and associated working space
  • Provides ongoing training as directed or desired; participates in established internal training programs and development opportunities
  • Develops working relationships with outside contacts such as utilities, regulatory agencies, and sub-consultants as directed by supervisor
  • Actively engages in community and professional organizations
  • Provides ongoing training through the participation in established internal training programs
QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering, a master's degree in engineering is a plus
  • 6- 8+ years progressively responsible relevant experience
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license required; or PE in another state with the ability to obtain CA Licensure within one year
  • Proficient in MS Office, Teams, etc.
  • Demonstrated proficiency knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, etc.
  • Knowledge of overall project deliverables (PSR, PAED, PS&E)
  • Demonstrated proficiency knowledge of general engineering principals, statics, dynamics of structures and general engineering design
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction methods and techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic project management skills and tools
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and delegate work assignments
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks for a design team and manage a design team time to maximize efficiency
  • Possession of a valid driver's license

The offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. The base compensation range for this position is $125,000.00 - $170,000.00 annually.
