Position Summary
Bridgestone, a global leader in the tire and rubber industry, is seeking a talented and qualified antitrust lawyer to join its Bridgestone West Ethics and Compliance team. As the Assistant General Counsel for Antitrust and Corporate Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in offering legal counsel on antitrust matters, conducting risk assessments, crafting training materials, and supporting various facets of the ethics and compliance program. This role, situated in the United States, reports to the Head of Ethics and Compliance for Europe Middle East & Africa (EMEA) / Head of Antitrust for Bridgestone West. Our new Bridgestone West structure has brought together our compliance teams from the Americas and EMEA into one new and combined team.
Responsibilities
- Provide practical and informed legal advice and counsel to Bridgestone's business units and lawyers in the Americas on antitrust matters, including transactions, trade association involvement and competitive intelligence.
- Conduct antitrust risk assessments, including proactively identifying new risks facing the organization and helping to create strategies to manage and minimize risk.
- Continuously monitor and refine antitrust policies, controls, training materials and communications, including providing training to teammates.
- Stay current on antitrust laws and regulations in the Americas and globally.
- Identify and analyze antitrust trends, with a focus on the industries in which Bridgestone operates, offering strategic guidance to address emerging issues.
- Conduct investigations involving antitrust and other compliance related matters, maintaining a thorough and impartial approach.
- Engage with senior leader and business stakeholders, cultivating support and commitment for the antitrust and ethics and compliance programs.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with other members of the Bridgestone West Ethics and Compliance Team and outside counsel, supporting other areas of the ethics and compliance program including compliance related sustainability matters and reporting, oversight of program roll-out in specific entities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Admitted to practice law in the United States.
- 10+ years of experience practicing antitrust law.
- Solid understanding of antitrust laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a deep understanding of the different businesses and developing strong relationships with different functional areas.
- Ability to navigate ambiguous situations, operate under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision.
- Legal writing and research skills, as well the ability to provide clear and concise legal advice.
- Ability to engage diverse audiences and translate complex legal and economic concepts into simple and understandable guidance and training.
- A team focused and growth mindset.
Candidates who have two or more years in any of the following areas are likely to stand out:
- Experience with international antitrust.
- Experience working in multi-jurisdictional teams.
- Experience working for the U.S. Department of Justice or other regulatory body, a law firm renowned for antitrust practice or experience working for a mature global corporation.
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent work experience.
