JOB REQUIREMENTS: Prepare, season, and cook dishes such as soups, meats, vegetables, or desserts in restaurants. May order supplies, keep records and accounts, price items on menu, or plan menu. Position: PREP/LINE COOK Position Overview: The Cook is responsible for prepping and preparing food in accordance with Company recipes and standards. Must be well organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate effective communication skills and deliver excellent customer service. Full-Time or Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Follows recipes in accordance with Company standards Prepare and serve all food items in accordance with established portions and presentation standards Sets up service units and prep cook stations with needed items. Maintain and break down as appropriate Ensure that assigned work area and equipment are clean and sanitary according to Company standards as well as state and local health and safety regulations Cover, date and neatly store all leftover products that are re-usable Assist in food preparation, help put away deliveries, cleaning coolers, freezers and storage rooms as needed Ensuring that kitchen equipment is properly cleaned and maintained Perform side work, and end of shift duties as assigned Attend staff meetings as requested Perform other duties as assigned by manager Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods. Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock. Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices. Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons. Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience. Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
