Job Description Summary:
As a Software Engineer in PayPal’s Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team, you will help design and build a robust product to enable PayPal to meet its world-class standards of reliability. You will leverage your expertise and experience to design and build systems that further PayPal’s goal of bringing best-in-class customer experience to provide global payment acceptance solutions to all merchant/partner segments at PayPal.

Key Responsibilities:
- Software Engineering:
- Build next-gen applications to enable PayPal to meet higher site reliability standards, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality, performance, and security.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, leads, and architects to translate requirements into technical specifications and solutions.
- Work across locations and geographies to deliver quality products.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in software development. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
- Documentation:
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, APIs, and technical processes.
- Innovation:
- Identify and advocate for new technologies and methodologies to improve development processes and product offerings.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Java and related frameworks such as SpringBoot and Hibernate.
- Experienced in Python.
- A deep understanding of data structures, object-oriented design, and algorithms.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development.
- Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Proficiency in database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, and in-memory databases.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Knowledge of code versioning tools, such as Git.
- It is nice to have familiarity with Front End technologies such as React, Express, Node.
- Experience working in payments or financial services industry is a plus.
