Hubbell Power Systems - Director, Supply Chain

Location: Shelton, Connecticut

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to lead our supply chain operations. This role is responsible for overseeing sourcing, procurement, production planning, and service metrics, as well as sourcing metrics. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in supply chain management and a strong ability to drive efficiency and effectiveness across all supply chain functions.

This role will report directly to the VP, Operations.

A Day In The Life

  1. Sourcing and Procurement: Develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services. Manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts to achieve the best terms and conditions.
  2. Production Planning: Oversee production planning processes to ensure optimal use of resources and timely delivery of products. Collaborate with manufacturing and operations teams to drive and align production schedules with demand forecasts and SIOP process.
  3. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, IT, and customer service, to ensure alignment of supply chain activities with overall business objectives. Communicate effectively with Business Unit management regarding status, goals, and countermeasures through detailed KPI’s.
  4. Service Metrics: Monitor and analyze service metrics to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service performance.
  5. Sourcing Metrics: Track and report on key sourcing metrics, including cost savings, supplier performance, and compliance with procurement policies. Identify opportunities for improvement and drive initiatives to achieve sourcing goals.
  6. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of supply chain professionals. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the supply chain organization. Coordinate with Human Resources to develop succession planning strategies, ensuring leadership continuity and role fulfillment.
  7. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including disruptions in the supply chain, supplier performance issues, and changes in market conditions.
  8. Budget Management: Develop and manage the supply chain budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and adherence to financial targets.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  1. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  2. Minimum of 15 years of experience in supply chain management, with at least 10 years in a leadership role in a supervisory position.
  3. Strong knowledge of sourcing, procurement, production planning, and service metrics. SAP experience is required.
  4. Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  5. Project Management: Develops project plans; coordinates projects; communicates changes and processes; completes projects on time and budget; manages project team activities.
  6. Proven ability to develop and implement supply chain strategies that drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  7. Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  9. Travel requirements are approximately 50% and may vary depending on company needs.
