Job Description

The Director of Asset Protection Operations will lead, develop, prioritize and implement cross functional initiatives that support organizational strategies across business units of Stores, Supply Chain and Corporate Offices. This business leader will be a collaborative change agent, recommending and influencing program and process improvement to drive productivity, produce and achieve KPI benchmarks, accomplish departmental goals and ultimately support reduced shrink. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong attention to detail, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. The drive and capability to shape a new business group strategy and foster ideas and solutions is necessary.

This position will be responsible for National Asset Protection Technology, Systems, Training and Program Management ensuring all initiatives meet the business objective, timeline and operate within the established budget.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Leadership

  1. Develop and implement strategies that leverage current loss prevention industry best practices. Work with business leaders and key stakeholders through execution of strategies to monitor impact and adjust plans accordingly.

  2. Leads AP team in developing and implementing business strategy and security processes throughout the organization to reduce risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure and liability in financial, physical, personal, and reputational risk.

  3. Engage in continuous planning cycle to drive next wave planning while keeping pulse on execution and stepping into execution where uniquely required. Anticipate future business changes and challenges and proactively develop new or revised solutions. Enable and drive transformational change to further Nordstroms success.

  4. Participate in large, cross-functional initiatives by serving as a subject matter expert for Asset Protection programs across the company. Perform deep-dives and root cause analysis to answer business questions.

Shrink Reduction

  1. Supports strategy for YoY shrink reductions.

  2. Responsible for the cross functional support for shrink reduction tactics.

  3. Develop strategies for the annual strategic business plan goals and objectives. Monitor performance in meeting the goals and objectives. Define tactical business plans for department. Monitors performance in meeting goal and objectives.

  4. Provide independent, enterprise-wide dashboard reports on a set frequency (e.g. quarterly) Provide a collective overview and picture on the effectiveness of the strategy and whether the current objectives are being achieved. Identify opportunities to enhance and strengthen the shrink and risk response strategy and regularly share results with executive leadership.

  5. Manage multiple complex projects concurrently for shrink improvement with responsibility for ensuring results are integrated effectively into the business plan.

  6. Take a proactive approach to innovate, develop, implement, and manage programs to reduce shrink, including preventing and detecting issues of theft and dishonesty, that meet both existing and future need.

AP Technology and Systems Support

  1. Oversee the support deployment of state-of-the-art technology solutions and innovative Asset Protection management standards to safeguard Nordstrom assets.

  2. Support company NSO, remodel and/or location closing process, establishing plans and build out for physical security, technology, merchandise protection and training support.

  3. Directs and manages company Civil Recovery Program.

  4. Leads all physical security programs and systems – i.e. Card Access and Burglary Alarm Systems.

People Development

  1. Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with Corporate partners in Legal, Compliance, Finance, Technology, HR as well as Field Leaders in Operations, HR and Loss Prevention.

  2. Act as a courageous communicator and collaborator with peers, managers, and directors to support and make decisions on strategic initiatives and projects. Sets direction for and coaches’ partners to achieve results; establishes clear expectations, tactics and timelines for assigned projects.

  3. Empower a team of project managers who are deployed to various programs with accountability and ownership. Provide clarity around priorities and goals and resource as needed and prioritized by the business objectives.

  4. Coach, mentor, and provide feedback to build high-performing team with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experience.

AP Training Program

  1. Responsible for all elements of AP training program, agent release process, annual compliance and field execution.

  2. Oversee the NPD process, incident review and quarterly business recap.

  3. Responsible for drafting all AP Policy and Procedures and managing national compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Criminal Justice or related field.

  2. 15+ years of overall Asset Protection business experience.

  3. 8-10 years’ experience in managing Corporate Asset Protection, programs and leading a team.

  4. High-level strategic, operational, and interpersonal skills demonstrating broad expertise in loss prevention and organized retail crime.

  5. Expertise in Asset Protection strategy development, best practices including internal and external shrinkage controls and security systems technology.

  6. Proven ability to identify, define, and resolve problems that are often non-conforming and without clear precedent.

  7. Skilled in risk management, business risk analysis and making complex business/risk trade-off recommendations and decisions.

  8. Highly analytical and capable of managing programs through metrics.

  9. Hands on, results driven with strong project management skills.

  10. Excellent leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Washington: $150,000 - $245,000 Annually. This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
