Job Title: Lead Endoscopy Technician
Reports To: Nurse Manager
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non- Exempt
Position is full-time with benefits and will be scheduled 32 hours per week - 3 days
Responsibilities:
• Ensures smooth workflow during endoscopy workday consistent with policies and standard procedures.
• Sets up procedure rooms upon arrival for the day. Maintains and documents daily checks and logs.
• Provides breaks and lunch relief for technicians.
• Schedules work assignments for technicians in procedure rooms and scope room.
• Orders all endoscopy supplies for procedure rooms, scope room, and prep/recovery area.
• Ensures we maintain an adequate amount of supplies on hand. Communicates with vendors when supplies are on back order to substitute supplies. Rotates supplies to ensure they are in date.
• Communicates and interacts with vendors to ensure up-to-date disposable supplies are utilized.
• Coordinates service and repair of equipment including endoscopes
• Collaborates with Nurse Manager to identify supply cost savings
• Is familiar with fire system, generator, pump room, O2 manifold/medical gases. Contacts facility services if issues are identified.
• Ensures infection control and lab specimen protocols are followed.
• Train new endoscopy technicians as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Places equipment and supplies in endoscopic procedure room and arranges instruments, according to instructions.
• Performs and/or participates in safety checks including "Time Out" prior to the beginning of procedures in collaboration with ALL team members (other technicians, anesthesia and nursing staff and performing physician.).
• Maintains supply of endoscopic supplies necessary for procedures and patient care during the procedures.
• Hands instruments and supplies to physician and performs other tasks as directed by physician during endoscopic procedures.
• Documents interventions and patient care activities in collaboration with other team members in the electronic health record and any other patient record, as appropriate, correctly and accurately.
• Cleans, reprocesses and maintains endoscopes and all equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations, industry standards and strictly adheres to all infection control standards.
• Maintains reprocessing machines and all reprocessing related equipment in accordance with manufacture's recommendations, industry standards and strictly adheres to all infection control standards.
• Cleans and maintains endoscopic procedure room according to industry and infection control standards.
• Assists in the acquisition of tissue specimens as directed by and under the direct supervision of the performing physician.
• Responsible for appropriate labeling, care and security of all specimens obtained from the time of acquisition until secured for laboratory group pickup.
• Responsible for appropriate tracking documentation of all specimens including verification of accuracy of any and all reports generated via the electronic health record system.
• Follow and comply with all safety policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/ and or Experience:
• High School Diploma.
• One to three years related experience and/or training
• Maintains knowledge, skills and abilities through ongoing education.
• Completes all mandatory reviews/educational required and assigned.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Is actively committed to meeting / exceeding employee expectations / satisfaction in the performance of job functions.
• Retains all accreditations, licensures and designations in good standing.
• Maintains compliance with all laws and applicable regulatory requirements. Acts promptly to comply with required changes.
Specialized Knowledge Required - Including any required certificates, licenses, and registrations
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Great attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
