Academic Hematopathologist/Molecular Pathologist

(Mid-Career/Senior Academic Clinician or Physician-Scientist)

Department of Pathology

Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Inc.

Harvard Medical School, Boston

The Department of Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is recruiting a full-time mid-career to senior academic hematopathologist. BIDMC is a tertiary care facility with 743 licensed beds and an internationally renowned principal teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School with NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center-affiliated Cancer Center with strong and growing focus on hematologic malignancies.

The BIDMC Department of Pathology has launched new strategic initiatives in cutting-edge Precision Diagnostics (including cancer genomics, multiplex biomarker theranostics, and computational/digital pathology). In addition, the department will be engaged in the newly announced and exciting clinical collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, BIDMC, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England’s only free-standing adult inpatient cancer hospital.

We are looking for an active, energetic, team-oriented faculty member to help us actively shape our future agenda and take leadership in areas that are being actively developed.

In addition to strong hematopathology diagnostic skills, expertise in advanced flow cytometry and molecular diagnostics (including NGS and FISH) are desirable. Strong interest in further developing the crucial role of Pathology in clinical trials, including new companion diagnostics, is a plus.

Candidates with a strong clinical, translational, or laboratory-based research program are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates with existing NIH grant funding will be supported by attractive research space and start-up funds to expand their programs.

The successful candidate will join a team of hematopathologists, cytogeneticists, and molecular diagnosticians, residents, and fellows to provide world-class diagnostics for benign and malignant hematology, stem cell transplantation, and the cancer vaccine and T-cell therapies center at BIDMC.

Applicants must be board certified in Pathology (AP or AP/CP) and Hematopathology. Board certification in Molecular Pathology (including NGS experience) is a significant plus.

The candidate will be appointed to the full-time faculty of Harvard Medical School at an academic rank commensurate with experience.

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is committed to increasing representation by women and underrepresented minorities on its faculty, and we particularly encourage applications from such candidates.
