Definition of Responsibilities
This position requires experience in working with youth who have experienced trauma related to sexual abuse. Training in evidence-based therapy modalities is required for this position.

Job Purpose
Under general supervision, conducts psychosocial evaluations and provides individual, group, and family therapies within a multi-disciplinary team framework.
Essential Job Duties
  • Provides extensive counseling and crisis intervention services for children affected by trauma.
  • Interviews customers; identifies, assesses, and evaluates strengths and needs, if circumstances are family functioning, as well as receptiveness to services.
  • Composes and complies treatment plans and evaluative reports; makes referrals and linkages as appropriate.
  • Provides consultation services to the support staff of the Child Advocacy Center.
    Develops and/or participates in public awareness and educational programs.
  • Assists in policy formation and assures that services assigned are carried out effectively.
  • May supervise and/or train subordinate personnel.
  • Completes assigned work as outlines in various manuals in a clear and consistent manner.
  • Maintains case records, case plans, and other required documentation in accordance with program and local policy requirements and guidelines.
Emergency Operations : Participates as needed in agency's mandated obligation to provide mass care and shelter under direction of County or State Emergency Operations Center.
Examples of Other Duties
Provides customer service to both internal and external customers that meets or exceeds the standards set by the Department.Clinically assesses safety factors and risk factors.
Interprets and applies existing laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to social service programs.
Prioritizes workload to meet timeliness standards.
Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Possession of a master's degree in social work from a college or university approved by the Council of Social Work Education;
Plus
Two years' experience rendering professional social work services.
Education beyond a master's degree from an accredited college or university in the field of social work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of one year for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
At least two years' experience providing counseling services
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a license, issued by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners, as a Licensed Social Worker is required at the time of application. Some positions may require possession of a LCSW-Clinical license issued by the Maryland Board of Social Workers at the time of application.
Possession of a valid license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license may be required for some positions at the time of appointment.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of the training and experience as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation.
Conditions of Employment

Salary
Annual Salary review - Step increases may be granted on anniversary date based on satisfactory job performance
