The Role

As an Account Director, Public Relations, you will run accounts autonomously, driving the overarching account strategy while ensuring the team is set up for success. You’re the main client contact for nuanced conversations related to the team and the work, and you drive the strategy and deliverables to ensure results each quarter. You will guide your team to achieve media hits by helping identify the right media outlets for stories and offering feedback and coaching along the way.

Duties and Responsibilities

Account + Client Management

  • Travel for client needs
  • Lead hospitality moments and campaigns, e.g., a crisis, renovation, and/or hotel opening
  • Create, execute, delegate, and course correct overarching account strategies
  • Implement strategies and oversee the performance of KPIs
  • Act as a trusted partner to Clients, leading challenging conversations as needed
  • Oversee scopes of work and direct your teams to conduct meaningful work based on the clients’ revenue and business goals
  • Monitor your team’s activity to ensure they stay within budgets and client satisfaction
  • Lead your team by providing clear guidance and resources for day-to-day account success
  • Design impactful PR campaigns, activations, and partnerships
  • Manage conversations with clients relating to contract renewal and changes in scope
  • Demonstrate leadership by providing knowledge and advice
  • Understand client business goals and lead account strategy to produce measurable ROI
  • Craft a goal-setting process with your clients and lead your team on all aspects of account management
  • Nurture client accounts with proven tactics for continued renewal
  • Identify add-on projects for clients

Media Relations

  • Guide your teams to achieve media hits and campaign marks
  • Create pitches that land in significant features and multi-page spreads
  • Nurture A-list media relationships for key placements
  • Remain relevant in the changing media landscape

New Business

  • Provide thought leadership for new business proposals
  • Attend new business meetings as the voice of account leadership
  • Build and foster a personal network of contacts in our industry
  • Develop a specialty area at the agency
  • Attend conferences and events on behalf of J/PR
  • Mentor and guide your team members
  • Manage team retention by creating growth opportunities

Experience

  • College Degree or comparable experience required
  • At least 10 years of public relations experience in hospitality, culinary, travel, tourism, or consumer lifestyle arenas
  • Agency or in-house experience is a plus

J/PR offers a competitive benefits package, including:
