Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, data, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

We are looking for exceptional Data Engineers to join us at our Seattle, WA location to build the next generation of the AWS Direct Connect service. This position will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting the AWS Direct Connect service.

The Opportunity

AWS gives its engineers a tremendous amount of responsibility and empowers them to do whatever it takes to meet customer needs. The AWS Direct Connect team is looking for experienced data engineers who can help us build modern big data solutions to meet our customers' demands. You will be designing, implementing, and operating features that directly impact the customer experience.

AWS in general and this business, in particular, operates at very large scale and on critical workloads, so a passion for operational excellence is essential. Candidates must be comfortable working within a fast-moving startup environment and be eager to embrace ownership and accountability.

Key job responsibilities

This position on the Direct Connect team will be designing and developing data modeling of SDN (Software Defined Network) solutions for our customers. You'll be coming in on the ground floor as we build these exciting new services for our enterprise customers to grow their hybrid cloud solutions tailored to their specific network needs and ensuring durability, resiliency, speed and high availability. Data Engineers on Direct Connect are responsible for influencing the direction of our next generation of products by bridging the gap between data and insights. You will build and operate automated solutions that provide data pipelines, storage, and modeling on a massive global scale.

A day in the life

On a “typical” day, Data Engineers might deploy new data infrastructure with code, author a research paper to prove or disprove an idea, instrument code to report a new metric, work with business leaders to formulate a data driven expansion plan, or draft a proposal for the next generation of Direct Connect products.
