JOB TITLE: Diabetes Services Medical Assistant
SUPERVISOR: NTE Branch Manager
HOURS PER WEEK: 40hrs/Non-Exempt (M-F 7:30am - 4:30pm)
DEPARTMENT: Diabetes/Nutrition

HIRING BONUS: $1,000 after 90 days
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Scheduling all appointments for the department, answering phones, processing referrals and authorizations, verifying benefits, and assisting with various administrative tasks as needed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (* Essential Functions) TPC123
1. Answer incoming telephone calls and voicemails.*
2. Schedule and confirm appointments for the department. * a. Ensure referrals are in place for appointments.
3. Process incoming faxes for the department. *
4. Process authorizations for various services applicable to the department (ex: insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors). *
5. Assist with chart preparation. *
6. Assist with others as needed. *
7. Professional communication with interdisciplinary staff and providers. *
8. Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
9. Participate as an active team member in a patient-centered medical home.
10. Work in a cooperative manner with management, coworkers, customers, and vendors. *
11. Abide by company policies. *
12. Attend work regularly as scheduled. *

REQUIREMENTS:
• Current Medical Assistant Certification or must fulfill the requirements for Certification within 60 days from your date of hire. If met, you must also provide proof of having been issued MA Certification within 90 days of your date of hire, -OR- • Current Oregon Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license (basic or advance) and national EMT registration with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). Once certification is in place, it must remain active.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification

• Ability to accept responsibility and use initiative to proceed with necessary tasks without direct Supervision.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients and staff.
