Location: Jacksonville, Florida
Compensation: $18 - 26 an hour (Negotiable)
Job Description:
As a Vinyl Extrusion Lead Operator at our building materials company in Jacksonville, Florida, you will oversee the vinyl extrusion process, ensuring the production of high-quality vinyl profiles used in various building products. You will lead a team of operators, maintain production schedules, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervision and Leadership:
    • Lead, train, and supervise a team of extrusion operators.
    • Schedule and coordinate daily work activities to meet production targets.
    • Monitor team performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Operation Management:
    • Set up and operate vinyl extrusion machines.
    • Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and quality.
    • Adjust machine settings to meet product specifications.
    • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Quality Control:
    • Conduct regular quality checks on extruded vinyl products.
    • Ensure all products meet company standards and customer specifications.
    • Document and report any quality issues and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
    • Conduct safety training and enforce safety standards.
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Inventory and Materials Management:
    • Manage inventory of raw materials and finished products.
    • Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure adequate supply levels.
    • Track material usage and minimize waste.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of production data, including output, downtime, and maintenance activities.
    • Prepare and submit production reports to management.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in extrusion or manufacturing preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in vinyl extrusion, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of extrusion machinery and processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficient in using computer software for documentation and reporting.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to operate machinery and handle materials.

Work Environment:
  • The position involves working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
