Job Description:
As a Vinyl Extrusion Lead Operator at our building materials company in Jacksonville, Florida, you will oversee the vinyl extrusion process, ensuring the production of high-quality vinyl profiles used in various building products. You will lead a team of operators, maintain production schedules, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead, train, and supervise a team of extrusion operators.
- Schedule and coordinate daily work activities to meet production targets.
- Monitor team performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Operation Management:
- Set up and operate vinyl extrusion machines.
- Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and quality.
- Adjust machine settings to meet product specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct regular quality checks on extruded vinyl products.
- Ensure all products meet company standards and customer specifications.
- Document and report any quality issues and take corrective actions as needed.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
- Conduct safety training and enforce safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Inventory and Materials Management:
- Manage inventory of raw materials and finished products.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure adequate supply levels.
- Track material usage and minimize waste.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of production data, including output, downtime, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare and submit production reports to management.
- Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in extrusion or manufacturing preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in vinyl extrusion, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of extrusion machinery and processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficient in using computer software for documentation and reporting.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to operate machinery and handle materials.
Work Environment:
- The position involves working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
