Position Description:
Perform functions to apply business knowledge and human resources expertise to execute HR related activities on a professional level and foster the development of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance. Provide a wide range of guidance and support on recruitment, employee separations, performance management, employee relations, and HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between personnel and senior management.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide advice and service to management on daily employee relations and performance management issues
  • Analyze data or reports that provide detail related to department or company performance (i.e. turnover, voluntary, and involuntary separation, discipline, etc.) and identify root causes
  • Maintain employee-related databases and prepare periodic reports for management as necessary or requested
  • Fully utilize HR systems to the company's advantage
  • Provide appropriate guidance and support of the onboarding process through new hire orientation and training of safety, key administrative policies, department overviews and introduction to their specific roles and department.
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding process for exempt, nonexempt and temp-to-hire employees using standard recruiting and hiring practices.
  • Support the selection process by serving on employee selection committees or participating in meetings as needed
  • Partner with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and applicable local, state and federal laws.
  • Recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation
  • Participate in the conduct of investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth
  • Establish and maintain protocol with leadership and the union to answer and resolve union grievances
  • Advise managers and supervisors about the steps in the progressive discipline process of the company and counsel managers on employment issues
  • Attend and participate in daily operations meetings
  • Comply with all existing governmental laws and reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act(FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth; Maintain minimal company exposure to lawsuits
  • Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations
  • Assist with employee communication and feedback through such avenues as company meetings, suggestion programs, employee satisfaction surveys, newsletters and one-on-one meetings
  • Help monitor the organization's culture so that it supports the attainment of the company's goals and promotes employee engagement and maintains moral
  • Assist with the implementation of the company-wide committees and/or programs including the wellness, training, environmental health and safety, activity, and culture and communications
  • Identify ways to improve policies and procedures and assist with the development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company
  • Support managers with establishing employee development programs
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, Business or HR Management
  • 3 - 5 years of progressive leadership experience in HR positions
  • General working knowledge of general employment law and practices
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
  • Effective oral and written communication.

  • Excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Skills:
  • HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, CP or SCP)
  • Able to speak, read, and write Spanish
