SUMMARY
The Silicon Valley Innovation Center (SVIC) from Pfeiffer Vacuum Inc. has been put in place to support our semiconductor customers with quick response time. This position serves as the key technical interface with the customers to address their technical questions and concerns. Responsibilities include interacting and presenting technical data with customers, close collaborating with colleagues from our development centers, analyzing the applications and the product performance, issuing recommendations, suggesting and helping design product modifications, performing testing in our lab or at customer facilities. The position also serves as the team lead for the customer engineering team at SVIC.
This position reports to the Vice President of Sales.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees the projects of the customer engineering team.
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains staff.
- Promotes employee morale, the development of key skill sets and competencies for assigned team, and team-oriented behavior that is essential to accomplishing functional requirements and achieving high customer and employee satisfaction.
Duties:
- Communicates proactively with customers to understand their needs and their specifications.
- Analyzes the needs and proposes solutions, sometimes within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Shares findings with relevant development centers and product teams.
- Contributes to sales presentations showcasing all technical features and processes, present to customers.
- Organizes, sets up, performs customer demos, installs pumps and components at customer sites.
- Answers customer support request presented by customers or sales colleagues.
- Performs vacuum simulations.
- Develop test set-ups.
- Runs characterization tests.
- Tests applications extensively to ensure a high quality and high reliability.
- Connects with customers to analyze user experience and gain constructive feedback.
- Helps maintain lab and lab equipment.
- Makes recommendations for new tools, equipment.
- Builds strong relations with customers.
- Participates in the search for innovative and even disruptive solutions.
- Creates and presents application prototypes.
- Participates in new business model prospection.
- Maintains a high knowledge in the vacuum industry by attending professional conferences, leading seminars with colleagues and building a network with local partners and suppliers.
- Assists colleagues when need arises.
- Act as resident technological expert advisor for our products.
- Manages and determines projects including estimated time and costs.
- Maintains a strong understanding of business strategies, goals and missions.

Tasks require walking, sitting, bending, reaching, mobility, frequent lifting and pushing/pulling. Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a technical/scientific area of study
- 5 years of experience managing technical projects serving the semiconductor industry, knowledge of semiconductor processing and manufacturing tools
- 2 years of experience leading a small team
- 3 years of customer facing experience is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience working in a lab to perform engineering testing
- Knowledge of vacuum technology a plus
- Knowledge in various programming languages (Java, Perl, Python, C++ etc.) a plus
Language Skills
The ability to communicate clearly in English verbally and in writing is essential. Reports, email correspondence, schedules and graphic presentations are all typical requirements of this position and must be effectively and professionally communicated. Demonstrated communication skills including experience in communicating ideas to clients in various ways.
Mathematical Skills
Superior math skills required. Strong knowledge of the mathematics that supports the industry is essential in order to provide technical assistance and expertise as required.
Reasoning Ability
Must be able to multitask and operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a disciplined approach to oversee major customers’ needs. The ability to understand the customers’ requirements and plan the support strategy is essential. Must be able to solve both practical and complex problems and deal with a variety of factors in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid driver’s license is required.
TOOLS AND/OR EQUIPMENT
This position uses a computer extensively with demonstrated abilities in the use of Microsoft products as well as other common office type equipment.
