About The Position

Fortress seeks an experienced Compliance Officer to join the Fortress Legal and Compliance Department and will report directly to the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer. Fortress is a SEC-registered investment adviser (operating in multiple foreign jurisdictions) with approximately $48 billion in assets under management. The position will be based in NYC or Dallas.

The successful candidate will work with members of the Legal and Compliance Department and other departments and businesses around the firm on, among other things, the following major items:

  • overseeing the maintenance of the firm’s Restricted Trading List (additions and removals)
  • general administration of the Fortress compliance program
  • conducting portions of the Fortress annual compliance review under SEC Rule 206(4)-7
  • conducting additional ad hoc compliance assignments, including periodic compliance testing

The successful candidate will have:

  • a bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance
  • 7+ years of experience in a legal and compliance department at a SEC-registered investment adviser
  • significant experience in the analysis of material, non-public information and Restricted Trading List management
  • superior work ethic, attention to detail, organizational and communications skills
  • serious desire to learn, grow and develop as a professional
  • a proven ability to multi-task, problem-solve and think critically
  • a technical proficiency with computer applications
  • JD preferred but not required
