Financial Analyst
IMPACT ON BUSINESS:
- Provide qualitative and quantitative financial analysis to internal and external users. Responsible for developing forecasts, budgets, financial models, conducting analysis to support corporate strategic initiatives, enhance internal processes, and evaluate performance. Prepare capital project modeling, projection modeling, and dynamic analytics.
INTERACTION:
- The Analyst interacts with the Accountants/Analysts, FP&A Management, VP of Finance Operations, CFO, various other Finance personnel, and other key stakeholders in the business (Executives & Management)
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and provide various financial reports, analyses, and recommendations (including charts and graphs, industry & internal trend analysis and exception reporting) for senior management to facilitate informed decision making
- Prepare monthly Forecast, Annual Budget, and Long-Range Projections by working directly with operational stakeholders and through historical performance analysis
- Build strategic relationships with key personnel
- Attend and present financials at various leadership meetings
- Provide daily/weekly sales and gross margin reporting for the various business units and sales channels
- Supply chain planning, including labor needs and transportation planning
- Provide analytical support to assigned areas of the business, potentially including, store operations, ecommerce, marketing, and merchandise planning
- Identify opportunities for profit improvement and present findings to key stakeholders in the business
- Ability to design/develop clear, logical, and dynamic financial models to analyze large volumes of data
- Assist with the training of new hires and development of training material
- Cross train on other department duties
- Demonstrate the following culture within the Financial Planning and Analysis Department:
- customer service
- (ii) continuing process improvement
- (iii) building effective working relationships with people outside the department
- (iv) personal responsibility for the integrity of all work
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four or more years of prior financial analysis experience required, retail a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business Management/Administration preferred.
- MBA, or MBA candidate a plus.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, and financial reporting
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems, general ledger structures, and internal controls
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, including advanced Excel. Oracle, Hyperion, and database/data cube knowledge a plus.
- Understanding of the big picture view and how to identify obstacles and opportunities that impact the business
- Ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and manage several projects simultaneously, sometimes with only broad guidelines
- Strong analytical, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
- Team player with creative problems solving approach and attention to detail
- This position requires a willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends based on business needs
