Job Summary:
  • The Estimator is responsible for preparing bids and project proposals for millwork related commercial construction projects located in the NoVA/DC/Baltimore metro market.
  • Bids and project proposals are developed based on a thorough review of invitations to bid and project requests from top national and regional commercial general contractors.
  • Conduct detailed take-offs and estimates for custom millwork and casework projects, by room and elevation.
  • Analyze drawings, blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate and detailed estimates.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, architects, and other key stakeholders.
  • Consult with clients, architects, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements and ensure all estimates are in-line with the project scope.
  • Review project plans for any specialty materials and sub-contracted work to be priced into bids and obtain quotes as necessary.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current market trends, pricing, and product developments to ensure our estimates are competitive and accurate.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and other members of the team to ensure projects are completed within budget and on time.
  • Participate in bid meetings, presentations, and negotiations with clients to secure new project opportunities.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience, preferably with a focus on custom millwork, casework, and cabinetry projects.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering preferred.
  • Work experience in applicable construction trades is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction estimating processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Experience with blueprint and estimating software.
  • Experience with Innergy is helpful.
  • Ability to read blueprints, architectural drawings, specification sheets, etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • The ideal candidate possesses keen attention to detail, outstanding numerical accuracy, and a deep understanding of construction methods, processes, and material costs.
