Position: Parts Manager - Trucking Dealership

We are seeking a dedicated Parts Manager to lead and oversee all operations within the parts department at our dealership. This individual will ensure the highest standards of integrity while fostering a positive, respectful environment for both customers and employees. The ideal candidate will be goal-driven, with a strong focus on achieving performance and retention targets. Working closely with the Parts Director, this role will involve creating and implementing strategic plans to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Goal Setting & Strategy: Forecast and strive to meet or exceed departmental performance goals and objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and evaluate parts department staff to build a high-performing team.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain a balanced parts inventory that aligns with the service department, body shop, and customer needs.
  • Profitability & Pricing: Establish pricing structures that balance profitability and customer retention, ensuring gross profit goals are met.
  • Inventory Control: Ensure the parts inventory turns over the specified number of times per year, adjusting stock levels to minimize obsolescence.
  • Sales & Performance Monitoring: Analyze monthly sales, expenses, and inventory data to ensure profitability and meet department targets.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with the service and body shop managers to ensure timely turnaround of parts.
  • Customer Service: Address customer complaints promptly, maintaining strong, positive relationships with both internal and external clients.
  • Process Improvement: Implement effective inventory management practices, focusing on stocking levels, special orders, and return policies.
  • Sales Initiatives: Direct outside parts sales and counter sales efforts, driving revenue generation.
  • Meetings & Communication: Attend manager meetings, hold weekly department meetings, and provide feedback to the team on performance.
  • Shipping & Receiving: Oversee shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional appearance and represent the dealership in a positive manner at all times.

Qualifications:


  • Management Experience: Minimum of three years in department management, preferably within a heavy truck dealership.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth experience with truck parts and a strong understanding of the trucking industry.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of managing teams and driving performance.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office and dealership management software.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience Requirements:


  • Supervisory/Management: Minimum three years in a supervisory role, preferably in a heavy truck dealership.
  • Truck Parts Expertise: Hands-on experience in truck parts management.
