Job Overview: A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney for its McLean, VA office. This position involves representing various clients, including employers, restaurants, retail establishments, product manufacturers, corporations, and privately held companies, in state and federal courts. Responsibilities include defending liability claims, such as toxic torts, premises liability, motor vehicle-related property and bodily injury claims, and more. The firm offers a collaborative and dynamic work environment with a focus on professional growth and a hybrid work schedule.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in the defense of liability claims in state and federal courts, as well as administrative tribunals.
  • Handle cases involving toxic tort claims, premises liability, commercial disputes, motor vehicle-related claims, and lien disputes.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Manage high caseloads while ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Handle court appearances, client meetings, depositions, and other related activities.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other legal support staff.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients to provide case updates and strategies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in employers' liability and related defense litigation.
  • Active Virginia State Bar membership is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and high caseloads efficiently.
  • Strong research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Experience in workers’ compensation law and employer liability is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Virginia.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong legal research and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Client relationship management skills.
