The goal of the Global Creative Director is to strategize marketing campaign visuals and leverage creative thinking to differentiate the Brand and drive for executional excellence. This is a leadership role within the marketing organization responsible for guiding and overseeing the creative direction and branding for TGI Fridays while also developing the team of Designers under them. This role is critical in redefining what TGI Fridays looks, feels, and sounds like to our guests both returning and new - while keeping brand consistency across all marketing channels. We're looking for someone who can inspire others while taking our creative output to a new level as we continue to grow and elevate our identity. The ideal candidate will have a natural eye for design within their own work - and others - while also being a prolific generator of dynamic ideas to cut through the clutter and allow for the Brand to show-up in a distinctive and compelling manner.
Key Responsibilities & Major Accountabilities
Creative Strategy:
- Develop and execute a global creative vision and strategy aligned with the company's overall goals and historic values, focusing on Domestic markets while aiding the Brand to move as a singular, global entity.
- Develop campaigns and strategies that will run concurrently in-restaurant without feeling redundant.
- Offer creative guidance to creative production partners, including in-house designers, in-network Global designers, agencies, contractors, photographers/videographers, and other relations.
- Push for creative innovation and excitement within a corporate setting and across channels (e.g., in-restaurant menu, POP, collateral, and digital ecosystem).
- Version designs into templates or create with templates in mind for our franchisees (domestic and international design partners) to edit and version for their specific market.
Brand Identity Management:
- Maintain, strengthen, and develop the global brand identity of TGI Fridays, ensuring consistency in messaging, design, and storytelling while elevating and modernizing our iconic brand.
- Tell a story, synthesize and convey key messages, and present them in a visual and compelling way.
- Create and maintain a CC library with brand assets for the design team.
- Support and innovate a Completed and In-Progress creative library, ideally via ShareFile.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Brand, Digital, Merchandising, Menu, Culinary, Finance, and Operations, to ensure creative initiatives align with overall business strategies.
- Partner closely with Merchandising & Production lead to ensure creative development is prioritized and delivered in a timely fashion, allowing for stakeholder feedback along the way.
Innovation and Trends:
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and creative innovations to infuse fresh ideas into projects and remain relevant with guests/consumers.
- Drive creative excellence by introducing innovative approaches and best practices to the Design Team and Marketing Department.
Minimum Requirements
- 7+ years professional design experience.
- BS/BA in graphic design or related field preferred (experience and portfolio are most important).
- Proven ability in menu layout and POS/POP print design and print production best practices.
- Proven ability in mac-based Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, and InDesign (animation experience preferred).
- Strong time management and budgeting skills.
- Ability to coach Designers while also executing projects.
- Ability to think holistically about simultaneously running campaigns.
- Sharp eye for detail and quality, both in their own work and others.
- Experience on an in-house Creative Team, especially in leadership positions.
- Ability to fully execute photoshoots, from conception to shooting to retouching.
- Ability to work with and manage contractors and agencies to ensure design consistency and excellence.
- Position is based out of Fridays Support Center in Dallas, TX, for a minimum of 3 days/week in person.
