The Director of the St. Kate’s Teaching Hub will work collaboratively to build and lead a Hub that supports faculty as teachers and leaders around a deep commitment to the best inclusive and transformative teaching and learning experiences possible across all modalities to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. The person in this position will also teach one course per semester in the Curriculum, or in their area of expertise as needed.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and maintain a mission, vision, and strategic plan for the Teaching Hub that is consistent with the university’s mission, Setting Our Sails Strategic Plan, the Academic Master Plan, and the Inclusive Excellence Plan. This vision should prioritize inclusion, innovation, and equity through teaching and learning.
  • Engage with an advisory board, involving faculty, staff, and students, to help with visioning and planning for the Hub, including collaborating with the Mission Chairs.
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, work to implement the strategic plan of the Hub. The plan should include metrics that allow us to assess and measure our progress.
  • Elevate the science and art of teaching and learning in accordance with the mission of St. Catherine University.
  • Promote innovative and inclusive teaching practices, and be a leading voice in our community in this work.
  • Provide expertise to lead programming and activities around some aspects of faculty development on teaching and learning, recognizing that some areas will require additional internal and external expertise.
  • Support scholarship of teaching and learning, especially related to innovative work and inclusive practices.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Academic Technology and faculty to ensure quality of use of instructional technology, and support development of best practices for teaching and learning with technology and across modalities.
  • Utilize data to inform faculty development plans designed to improve instructional quality.
  • Provide strategic input into the evaluation process for teaching, supporting best practices in student evaluation of teaching, peer review of teaching, and other mechanisms of formative and summative evaluation of teaching practice.
  • Prepare and manage the Hub’s budget.
  • Teach two courses total each year in the Core Curriculum or in area of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Academic and/or certificate/license preparation to meet HLC eligibility criteria to teach in a degree program offered by St. Catherine University.
  • Effective collaborator, team player, and visionary who can build momentum towards successfully articulating and implementing faculty development goals.
  • Experience in faculty development work, including support of faculty in online and hybrid programs.
  • Experience in assessment both of development efforts and in supporting faculty in their work to assess student learning.
  • Culturally competent, possessing a deep understanding of issues surrounding equity and inclusion in higher education, and attuned to the varieties of intersectionality, not only of gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity and sexual orientation, but also class, religion, and national origin.
  • Fluency in the evolving nature of the landscape of instructional technologies.
  • Strong project management skills, including creative problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to effectively navigate conflict and dialogue.
  • Demonstrated fairness, transparency, competency, and empathy.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to make strategic, evidence-based decisions in a culture of open communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A record of research and scholarship in the area of teaching and learning.
