Responsible for the configuration, repair, and preventive maintenance of the university’s communications rooms.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdministers, installs, configures, maintains, monitors and provides tier three troubleshooting of the university’s wireless and switch network.Installs, maintains, and repairs the university’s communications rooms. Ensures communications rooms adhere to IEEE standards.Administers, installs, configures, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots the university’s DCHP and DNS services.Maintains all documentation related to the university’s switch network, wireless network, DHCP/DNS services, and communications rooms.Maintains and increases technical knowledge through coursework, workshops, seminars, readings, and cross training with other team members. Performs other duties as assigned.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree from an IT related field of study and a minimum of two years’ directly related experience. Directly related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.Valid Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.Valid Driver’s License required for travel to offices located off the main campus.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong organizational skills.Knowledge of the standard desktop operating systems.Ability to travel and complete overnight stays.Advanced knowledge of the network protocols: IP, TCP, UDP, EIGRP, GLBP, Spanning Tree.Advanced experience in network troubleshooting.Advanced knowledge of network management tools.Advanced knowledge of server hardware and software.Customer interface skills.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Preferred QualificationsCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.About The University of Southern MississippiSince our founding in 1910, The University of Southern Mississippi has remained dedicated to preparing students for success.
