Our Client, a Global Investment Bank, is seeking a Settlements Specialist in their New York, NY location.
Responsibilities:
Settlement Processing:
- Execute and manage the settlement of international transactions using GLOSS and Japanese settlement systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Reconcile trades and resolve discrepancies in settlement instructions, payment processing, and documentation.
GLOSS Management:
- Oversee the operational aspects of GLOSS, ensuring seamless processing and accurate recording of securities transactions.
- Collaborate with technology teams to troubleshoot and enhance GLOSS functionalities and performance.
Japanese Settlements:
- Facilitate the settlement of transactions in the Japanese market, understanding local regulations and market practices.
- Maintain relationships with Japanese counterparties and settlement agents to ensure efficient communication and resolution of issues.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for all settlement activities, adhering to internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in audits and compliance reviews related to international settlements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with trading, finance, and risk management teams to provide timely settlement updates and resolve any issues that arise.
- Communicate with custodians, brokers, and other external partners to facilitate smooth settlement processes.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the settlements function.
- Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in international settlements.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in international settlements, with specific experience in GLOSS and Japanese markets.
- Strong knowledge of global financial markets, settlement processes, and related regulations.
Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and relevant settlement systems/software.
