Summary Description: This professional clinical position is part of a multi-disciplinary mobile treatment team serving Rockland County's most seriously mentally ill individuals who have not responded to more traditional site or clinic-based services. The Vocational Specialist uses his/her expertise to deliver vocational and educational services to ACT clients.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide individual and group clinical mental health services to ACT clients.
  2. Provide individualized employment and educational assessments for each ACT client.
  3. Participate with the Team in formulating individualized treatment planning and goal setting.
  4. Knowledge of vocational, recovery, coping, relapse prevention strategies related to mental illness in general. Ability to teach these skills to others.
  5. To run vocational support groups for ACT clients.
  6. Assist clients in identifying and clarifying rehabilitation and recovery goals, especially around vocational management.
  7. Assist in the development of community support systems and networks.
  8. Maintain timely documentation in case records of interventions through individualized assessments and progress notes and in accordance with OMH guidelines and requirements.
  9. Carry a cell phone for 24/7 emergency coverage in an assigned shift.
  10. Attend and complete all GMH-NY or state sponsored In-Service Training Programs related to position, program or agency goals.
  11. Works closely and collaboratively with every ACT team member, and with other career and vocational providers in Rockland County.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Competencies:
  • Knowledge of models of supported employment and vocational assessment.
  • Experience in job exploration and skills development.
  • Ability to engage clients through the development of a therapeutic relationship.
  • Ability to deal with crisis situations and adapt to new or changing conditions.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and participate in a group process of goal setting and problem solving.
  • Knowledge of community resources and mental health services
  • Computer skills and familiarity with WORD, EXCEL and other software programs required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Must obtain and maintain Defensive Driver Certification within 30 days of hire
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Mental Health or related field with two years' experience working with individuals having serious mental illness in a vocational rehabilitation setting.
  • Or bachelor's degree in mental health or human services field with 4 years related experience.
  • Experience working with a diverse population
  • Must maintain pre-employment clearances by applicable regulatory clearances as required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Greater Mental Health Benefits:
  • Salary Range: $54,600 - $60,060 based on departmental budget, qualifications, experience, education, and licenses. This range represents the agency's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
