Job Summary

The Tax Manager will oversee the preparation and review of all company tax filings, tax disclosures used in financial reporting, and other tax compliance activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with outside accounting firm in all areas of tax return preparation for US- and Bermuda-based companies including assembling the information used by the outside accounting firm to prepare the returns and reviewing the returns prior to filing.
  2. Prepare quarterly consolidated GAAP tax provisions, tax accruals and disclosures for financial reporting purposes.
  3. Review quarterly statutory tax provisions of the Company's insurance entities for inclusion in quarterly and annual statements filed with state insurance departments.
  4. Act as a strategic leader, proactively tracking tax developments and preparing the organization to address these developments.
  5. Evaluating and implementing future tax structural changes.
  6. Maintain Company's tax records, returns, corporate tax reports and other related materials ensuring compliance with all requirements and filings.
  7. Maintain documentation for any uncertain tax provisions, deferred tax valuation allowance calculations, permanent establishment considerations, and transfer pricing studies.
  8. Reviewing premium tax returns and other tax filings with states.
  9. Coordinating and implementing operating tax guidelines across the organization.
  10. Research complex tax and accounting related issues.
  11. Oversee all tax related financial reporting requirements.
  12. Respond to various internal and external audits as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  2. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  3. High level of initiative and motivation
  4. Solid relationship building skills and ability to work well with outside consultants and internal managers and executives
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience and Education

  1. Bachelor's degree required
  2. 5+ years relevant experience
  3. Insurance industry experience preferred
  4. International tax experience a plus
  5. CPA preferred
