Job Description

Westlake is looking for talented professionals to fill an open position as a Credit Dispute Expert. This position responds to Credit Disputes and ID Theft claims received through direct and indirect means from our consumers.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and respond to direct and indirect (e-OSCAR) disputes according to department procedures and by department deadlines.
  • Research and resolve ID Theft investigations per department procedures.
  • Research and resolve credit bureau disputes per department procedures.
  • Validate or update reporting of consumer debt in e-OSCAR using the AUD process.
  • Provide written documentation to consumers, as evidence of how their accounts are reported, upon request (and per department procedures, using department letter templates)
  • Retain evidence of the credit bureau dispute investigation, as required by FCRA.
  • May be required to communicate with consumers and/or originators directly to obtain additional information to aid in credit dispute or ID Theft analyses.
  • Works effectively as part of a team atmosphere to perform duties and achieve daily operational goals.
  • Perform additional duties as needed within the department.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), College diploma preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience responding to Credit Disputes or conducting ID Theft investigations.
  • Consumer Finance experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent understanding of Metro 2 reporting guidelines, the AUD process and the e-Oscar portal, per the CDIA guidelines and instructions from the CRAs.
  • Possess good knowledge of credit reporting responsibilities as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • Ability to follow a standard path of resolution and determine when and if the standard path is not applicable to the current situation.
