Position Summary

The MRI Technologist operates the magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce quality images to assist the physicians to diagnose and treat our patients. It is a requirement of the position to be a team player and possess the ability to effectively communicate with patients, staff and physicians. The position also requires the ability to handle delicate, confidential and stressful situations. Travel required between Kent and Covington MRI clinic locations, based on business needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician
  • Greet and prepare patient for procedure
  • Assesses patient’s condition to best determine correct approach for exam
  • Screens patient prior to exam for any precautions and contraindications pertaining to procedure
  • Explains procedure to patient, answers questions and discusses concerns
  • Review and discuss MRI screening form with patient to ensure accuracy and patient safety
  • Review patient attire and perform final safety screening
  • Evaluate MRI scans for technical quality, collate processed images & sequence of exposure, label appropriately
  • Transfer images to PACS, completes and finalize all documentation
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of supplies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Follow all policies as introduced during new associate On-Boarding, updated real-time and outlined in Associate Handbook

Education/Experience

  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology or other compatible course of study
  • Advanced registry in MRI required within 6 months of hire
  • BLS certification
  • Adheres to Proliance Surgeons policies & procedures, regulatory compliance and patient confidentiality

  • Basic knowledge of ICD-10, medical terminology, clinical indications

Use of telephone and computer is required. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds. May require working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
