PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Intern-Technology Support Technician will provide all students, teachers, school leaders and departmental staff technical support on all technological devices with a focus on technology support, projects, implementation, integration of any technology support staff. The Intern-Technology Support Technician accomplishes this by providing technology support primarily through the onsite, district remote and help desk solutions and onsite. The Intern-Technology Support Technician will provide prompt response, resolve, research and technological support, support guidance for all district devices, endeavors, and initiatives. Intern-Technology Support Technician will resolve issues for all users quickly and with quality, identifying issues and developing permanent solutions to eliminate any obstacle. Specifically, the Intern-Technology Support Technician achieves technology, process, functionality with excellence throughout the district with emphasis in the following areas: of all technology devices, implementation projects, customer service, technology effectiveness, data risk management, data privacy education, and trusted learning environment management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School diploma, required
COMPTIA certification, preferred
Enrolled with a minimum of 3 credit hours at higher learning institution in Computer Science or related field, required
2.5 GPA or higher, required
Available to work 3-4 hours Monday through Friday for 19-hour week
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to effectively assess, research, evaluate, logical decision making, effective planning skills, and implement, develop and deploy solutions; knowledge of technology devices and software applications; demonstrate an aptitude for comprehensive understanding and repairing of technology hardware and software; willing to work irregular hours during the week and weekends to execute technology projects and/or support users.
Experience:
Experience in technology, preferred
Experience with Windows (desktop all versions), Mac OSX (all versions), Network printers (all makes and models), Scanners (all makes and models), Mobile devices and their OS's, preferred
Workdays: 226 / Hours: 3-4 hours Monday thru Friday - 19 hours week maximum
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide excellent professional customer service and behavior to students, parents, staff and stakeholders in the areas of technology solutions, use and issue resolution.
2. Develop and train technology users on proper guidance on prompt support and the use of technology devices and district applications.
3. Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking and wireless issues with quality and speed.
4. Provides district hardware, software, application and support solutions, awareness, training for all district technology.
5. Collaborate with all district campuses, departments implement solutions; communicate effectively through all technological medias.
6. Understand all district software and hardware technology including but not limited to computers, tablets, mobile devices, and other hardware such as monitors, printers, scanners, casting devices, projectors, interactive boards, document cameras and any other district technology device.
7. Plan with all Technology levels to execute plans of action for effective and efficient support on all configuration and deployment of technology devices, and/or moves, of technology installations and of technology disposals.
8. Prepare and continuously update technology equipment inventory.
9. Work with Department of Technology to facilitate installation or updating of technology devices and specialized software.
10. Contribute to creating a cooperative, collaborative, high-performing, and solutions-oriented department.
11. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
12. Perform other job duties as assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator) in accordance with funding source guidelines.

Computer workstations, mobile devices, security devices, laser printers, ink printers, Multifunction devices, communications equipment, network devices, test equipment, network tools, sheet scanners, software, scanner, and other related devices/equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to communicate effectively; maintain emotional control under stress; ability to handle several projects at the same time with frequent interruptions; interpret policy, procedures and data; coordinate district computer functions
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Occasional prolonged and irregular hours; ability to lift, carry and pull heavy equipment; ability to climb ladders to reach ceilings and roofs; stooping, kneeling, crouching, pulling; visual acuity; exposure to noise, vibration; work around machinery with moving parts
