Metropolitan Development Group LLC (MDG) is a Real Estate Developer and Multi-Family Apartment Owner. Established in 2004, MDG leverages the design, development and management expertise of its principal to create high quality living environments for its customers. Located in Tysons Corner, MDG’s primary focus is creating residential and mixed-use communities. Projects are in the 60 million to 100 million range.

Reporting to the President, the Project Manager will be responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of the construction project from conceptual planning and design through construction to project completion. This hands-on role is responsible for the life cycle of the project from zoning to financing and requires a self-starter with an entrepreneurial work ethic. Candidate must be well-versed in apartment proformas and managing contracts from cradle to grave. This requires the ability to lead, direct, develop, and manage consultants starting with conceptual design, scope and budgets, zoning, updates and schedule through completion.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with preconstruction to prepare, review, and monitor information and reports related to all costs involved in developing the project's budget, including value engineering, bidding for contractors and underwriting the construction project.
  • Takes ownership of the process of determining the quantity of budget estimates/deliverables to client.
  • Maintain interface with client and internal business units, ensuring total contract compliance with all criteria and reaching all performance specifications.
  • Contracting for architecture and engineering services.
  • Contracting and Managing General Contractor and all consultants.
  • Responsible for bidding of construction contract and contracting.
  • Review and summarize existing site conditions of active and potential developments.
  • Evaluate circumstances and prepare recommendations and/or action plans for potential problems.
  • Review, negotiate and manage the contract documents with all project participants (e.g., customers, employees, subcontractors, suppliers, utilities) to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage construction bidding/pricing and other terms for the acquisition of property, and evaluating and help secure zoning and entitlements required for development.

Education and/or Experience required:

Bachelor’s Degree – preferably in Business, Real Estate, Architecture with Construction Management or Civil Engineering a plus.

3 – 5 years’ experience in project management with scheduling expertise.

Proficiency in MS Office required, particularly Excel is a must.

Experience in Real estate development proformas and construction budgets.
